The .223 short is a solution looking for a problem. The ammo is over priced and isn't stocked at every Mom & Pop hadware store. .223 Rem or 5.56x45 is the cheapest new ammo off the shelf. If "worse comes to worse" you can always find ammo the military uses. .22 .223 .308 30/06 300Win and 12 gauge.
