Tied up in court for years? First, any court proceedings would be done in the home state of the seller. Who will hire a lawyer and go to court halfway across the country for a thousand dollars? Let's say the guy did hire a lwayer. He would have to pay for him plus any travel expenses incurred. If by some chance he was successful in court the most the judgement could be for would be the amount of the deposit. He will not be awarded damages or attornies fees. If some ahole backed out on a deal with me and became rude, as this guy apparently did, I would tell him to try to collect and wish him the best of luck.
