No comparison I think. The R has more weight and power. I love my old D, and I"ve used it in the field for over 15 years, but the R (stock of course) would out pull it and would do it on about 1/2 the fuel. The D is a model of simplicity and is rugged to a fault. With a little care they are almost bulletproof. Just my opinion, I"ve never run an R enough to compare. Paul
