I have a 1987 Ford Ranger out back, 2.9 V6, 5 speed. The original engine went 461,000 miles without ever being opened up. I changed the oil religiously every 5,000 miles using $2.00 oil filters and whatever oil I could buy for less than $10.00 a case. You decide.
