For my engines that demand SJ oil, they are going to get either SJ or Ford's synthetic blend that says it meets Ford's standards (and that will be a Ford engine). Diesel oils still have a full dose of the ZDDP additive because many diesel pumps have sliding parts like vintage engine cam followers.

The only oil in this country that meets VW gas engine specs is full synthetic Mobil 1 0W30 or Amsoil 0W30.
