I have a 96 Chevy Z71 4x4. I was having all sorts of weird electrical problems-no codes. Mine has 2 cables at the positive terminal at the battery-1 goes to the relays on the fenderwell, 1 to the starter. Check these for corrosion-mine were not making contact and did much the same as yours. Greg
