hey carson...you really should decide on what kind of paint job you're gonna put on your tractor, and what kind of paint and how you're gonna paint it. if you want to just slap a decent coat of enamel, you might want to just go with rustoleum red rust primer. i've used it on some implements i've cleaned up and it does a decent job. if you're looking to make a "show quality" tractor out of it, you might want to go over to the paint forum and start asking questions there...but you better get ready to shell out some big bucks if you go that route. if you're planning on doing a real top quality rebuild on your engine, you might want to think about taking that head in somewhere and having it checked real good to make sure there's no cracks in it, and that it's nice and flat where it mounts to your block. a little extra money to check it out and make it right now can save a lot of headaches later. spend your money on the mechanical parts and worry about the "pretty parts" later. i sure hope you get that engine broke loose, don't get too carried away trying to break it thru the tranny...you might mess something else up. keep us posted... -mike
