PHOTO - Pembrokeshire stone wall

Hi Gang;
This is a typical stone wall in this area. They built an earth bank, then faced it with stones taken from the fields.
The stones help prevent the soil falling down, and animals climbing over the bank. They would have planted gorse & hawthorn on the top to prevent any (climbing) sheep from crossing into the next field. All done a couple of hundred years ago when labour was cheap.
