Hi , One point - the 203 isn't and never was a gear drive the 205 was , the 203 was full-time and chain drive . Dumb question - Are ya sure you bought truck headers ? Car headers have longer collectors . Anyway I have a '73 shortbox and I didn't have any trouble at all with this area on either side with the exhuast exiting in front of the wheels with Hooker pro-comp headers. It's been a while since I been under there looking at the exhaust . Are you trying to go over or under the crossmember ? I don't have the stock system anymore so if you are trying to hook to the stock style system I don't know . Seems as though you'd be money ahead to just start at the front and make the back fit instead of trying to put a piece in the middle . Here's an idea get some pvc pipe ells ( 90's ) the same size as your exhaust and cut them and duct tape them together . Take it to the shop and make sure it's identicle . The flex tube should have worked just as well though . Personally , I would just put a couple 90's on and forget it . Open headers on a good running 350 is music at all decibles ! That's the way I used to go river running down in MO on the Black river between Lesterville and Centerville . I had at that time a '78 GMC short box with 39-15-15 Mickey Thompson Tall Baja's , six inch lift and a 400+ horse 350 with a four speed and a 205 t-case and 14 bolt full-floater rear , Those were the days ! I could run in 5 feet of water if I kept moving forward to keep a bubble under the hood 4 feet if I had to stop for anything . Anyway keep trying , I had a bunch of old bends laying around so that helped but I wasn't trying to hook two different pipes together either .Good luck ! ...Randy
