I going to yes it can be done. I wanted a wide front for my Oliver Super 77 but at the time I couldn't find an OEM and when I did find one it was in bad shape or a bunch of parts missing from it.
I was at this local bone yard one day. I was looking for a particular part for my combine and I got to looking at the rear axles on the combines that was there and I thought to myself I wonder if I could get one of theses axles to work on a tractor. I came across this JD combine and it look to be in good shape and I decided to take the axle from it and few other things to make it have power steering.
For a while there I didn't think I was ever going to get it done and make it look half way decent and work ok.
Had to do a lot of cutting - welding - fabricating and how I wanted to have the pivoting on it. Had some trial and errors.
But I was surprised how well it worked when I got it done. It's still one the tractor today and still working so far. Good luck. Mike
