I'm with the concrete the whole barn crowd. I built a 30x60 barn several years ago and only put concrete into two bays of the 5 bays. Regretted it ever since so am pouring concrete in the remaining three bays today! Hooray! I expect the little digging critters will find 6" of concrete a bit of a challenge. One thing I'd recommend is to leave a 1" (or so) offset between the slab and the taper. This should keep water from blowing in as easily.
