When in the battery and electric business ,I always kept a 8 volt battery (dry) in stock for customers that requested them. Also converted many over to 12 volt system. The 12 volt seemed to work best in most applications as you could use your truck,tractor,or other 12 volt equipment to boost it or vice versa,also it usually starts faster and saves wear on your starter.
