I run an 8 volt in my ferguson for about two years and just uped the regulator a little with no trouble. however when the battery went bad and the gen was not putting out the best I switched to 12 volt and an alt.I know a lot of guys on here say to just repair the 6 volt but in my opinion (and remember this is an opinion so no need to give me grief for it)if it was my tractor and I was using it on a regular basis I would either increase it to 8 volt or change it to 12. if you go to 12 remember to put a resistor to the coil so ya dont fry your points.
