Mike, is this a half ton or 3/4 ton. What I`m wondering is if it`s the 4L60E or the 4L80E trans? Did they find any codes? I wouldn`t get too jumpy about pullin the trans. As far as the dealer goes, if they didn`t drive it cold, or experience the problem, I wouldn`t take their advice. They have alot to gain if you do. There`s only about 20 different o-rings and seals in those trans. Shift solenoid problems usually show up hot(resistance goes up with temp). So I`d lean away from that. If you had a shift sol. problem, you`d get a screwy shift pattern and there would be codes associated with it. What I would do is get it to a good tranny shop, explain to them the problem, and what the dealer has done so far. What they need to find out is if the no shift is being commanded by the computer or not. This trans has no brain of it`s own, no throttle valve cable, vacuum mod, governor, or anything. The computer does all the thinking, and it relies on info from a bunch of sensors throughout the truck. If the computer is getting bad info from anywhere, that can wig the whole thing out. If you can give me some of the info they gave you when they scanned it, (any codes or explaination) maybe I can be more help. Brokenwrench

I have a picture blown up and framed in my "tractor room" of a Farmall M. It was my Grandpa's tractor, of which whom I never got to meet. He froze to death getting this tractor out of the barn to pull a truck out of the ditch before I was born. Anyway my dad and aunt had to sell it at the auction,
