It better be one heck of a 1/2 ton to haul that much. I know my 1/2 ton will but is an old Chev heavy half and I have since done a lot of work to it so I can. Now as far as the trailor yes a goose neck or 5th wheel type is far better then a bump pull type. Either one of the one goose neck or 5th wheel puts more of the load over the whole truck instead on just on the bake end of the truck
