I would go get the tractor soon as you can, and never look back. More than likely the new owners would have seen it as more junk to remove. Since you didn't know the condition, you were taking a chance. I bought a JD industrial model 401 b, it is almost the same tractor as the JD 2440 farm tractor. I paid 500.00 for it which I thought was a good deal. Everything in the engine was shot including the block when I opened it up. I was able to salvage the block at a price of 650.00, plus the price for everything else needed for a rebuild. I would not have bought the thing had I known what I know now. Stan
