I beginning to think ebay is shooting themselves in the foot. I've bought a lot of stuff off ebay in the past few years and it is a great medium for finding something that you don't just quite know where to find everyday and a lot of fun too. It's a great connetor. I've always watched for phony bids and whenever I saw early bids or you got raised by someone with a low number of feedback replies, who hadn't bought anything for a year etc. I just let them have it unless I would be bidding against another known bidder who I fugured was genuine. I also used to stay away from the "private" auctions. I think that by hiding the bidders identity I can no longer make my own assessment of the validity of the auction and I won't be bidding on those- even with all the attempts to make me feel comfortable with the statistics provided. Ebay should just do away with the second chance offers as they're going to loose more with what they are doing. I never took up second chance offers (except on a couple of occasions when the item was damn cheap) just because I never trusted why it might have been necessary to give a second chance (shill bidding?). It just seems that buying on ebay is a little less fun than it used to be and I feel that besides the crooks I am targeted by Ebay a well with all their promotions and constant pressure to use Paypal which really gives you nothing other than your puting all your information out again to someone whom you have no idea how they will use it or where it will end up.

Dad replaced the TO-35 with a MF 202 Workbull, essentially an industrialized Ferguson 35 I am told. Dad bought the 202 new in 1962, and I recall quite clearly going to the dealer with him to sign for it.
