Of course the caretaker and the coaches are just covering their butts. Why don't you ask the school principal and if that is a negative, ask somebody on the school board or perhaps a school trustee. If you get a no in those places, then no means no and it'll be lights out basketball. Just think how good the kids are gonna be shooting in the light if they do OK in the dark. They'll be able to "shoot the lights out" as the saying goes. Good luck.
