There is a local group of Vietnam vets who ride in front of the procession to the cemetery on their motorcycles. I am not entirely sure of what all they do, but when we buried my brother last month, five of them rode and went to the cemetery and stayed until it was over. As I understand the process, they protect the family and ceremony from any protesters or other disturbance. The guys who rode in honor of my brother, a Korean war vet, were very nice. Each of them was dressed in leather jackets and motorcyle "gang" type clothing. They all had big motorcycles, mostly Harley's. They were nice, respectful, and it was good to have them there. This was in Austin, Texas.
