If you cant spin it over to do a compression check, I dont know of any other reliable method to determine condition. How was it running before? Did it start easy? Oil comsumption? Smoke? If you dont know the tractor I'd recommend a teardown. BTW I have a 3400 in my shop now and all my aftermarket suppliers are out of stock on cranks right now. Happy New Year to you and yours
