I'll throw my thoughts in here to, get some good shoes, gel or cushion insoles and maybe even arch supports. I've had flat feet my whole life, if my arch supports start getting flattened out or my shoes start getting worn out I start getting leg cramps and joint pain clear up to the lower back.

A new set of shoe and arch supports and the relief is almost immediate....

Remember to use your legs and not your back when lifting stuff, you can overstress your back and cause yourself permanent damage.
