Crank seals and carb adjust?

I'm assuming you tried opening up the carbs screws? You cannot go by the intial adjustment of 3/4 and 1 turn -they are only for getting it started. You open up the low-speed screw until the saw revs without bogging - even when cold. You open up the high-speed screw with the saw running a high-speed no load - unitl it runs so rich it starts to break up - i.e. rich. It will smooth out as soon as you put a load on it. If you cannot get it to run rich - you've got other problems.
One other thing - are you sure the crankcase is sealed? A two-stroke will run way too lean or not at all with a leak . Standard procedure is to pressure-test it. But - usually - with an 041 - if it gets a leak it will be the large crankshaft oil-seal on the sprocket side. You might want to look at it and make sure it didn't pop out. 041 has a large oil-seal - and inside it the oil-pump worm-gear assembly rides. The worm-assembly also had a small seal - but it's the big one that usually causes trouble.
