Here I go one more time, I replaced the gaskets and I do have it running now. But whenever I try to cut something it will bog way down. Also it pops out of the exhaust, Is there something I am missing here? I can get it to cut, but not great. It will start everytime and idle. Once again thanks! Its an 041 Farm Boss

The little screen was plugged when I first dug into it. Like I said I replaced the gaskets, checked the fuel filter, fuel lines, new plug, cleaned all the ports and the screen in the carb. It will start up, but its hard for me to tune it by myself. I'll check into the suggestions here and I'll update. I would really like to get this running again, I just have my 025 with a 18" and I want this one for the 20" cut. It responds to the throttle well. Once again, thanks.

I had the screws too far out. I was trying to get a high rev and I was off by a bit. I got it so I buried the bar and she cut like butter. Thanks for all of the help. Its a bit different than the 025. Once again thanks.

Crank seals and carb adjust? in reply to Matt Kane, 12-19-2006 17:31:35
I'm assuming you tried opening up the carbs screws? You cannot go by the intial adjustment of 3/4 and 1 turn -they are only for getting it started. You open up the low-speed screw until the saw revs without bogging - even when cold. You open up the high-speed screw with the saw running a high-speed no load - unitl it runs so rich it starts to break up - i.e. rich. It will smooth out as soon as you put a load on it. If you cannot get it to run rich - you've got other problems. One other thing - are you sure the crankcase is sealed? A two-stroke will run way too lean or not at all with a leak . Standard procedure is to pressure-test it. But - usually - with an 041 - if it gets a leak it will be the large crankshaft oil-seal on the sprocket side. You might want to look at it and make sure it didn't pop out. 041 has a large oil-seal - and inside it the oil-pump worm-gear assembly rides. The worm-assembly also had a small seal - but it's the big one that usually causes trouble.

Mine does that right after its been started. After it warms up a bit, the bogging down goes away.

That usually just indicates the low speed screw has to be opened a little.

When you had the carb off, did you check the little fuel screen inside? It often gets plugged shut with sawdust that gets past the fuel pick-up in tank.

Make sure the hi and lo screws are set right on the carb try 1/2 turn on lo 3/4 turn on hi.If the lo is out to much it could bog on cutting.
