I planted them in rows, 6 feet apart, 24" spacing within the row, 3 seeds per drop. In blocs 36' wide, with a spray row between the blocks. Then I could put a hand wand sprayer on my big sprayer and by going down both sides keep them sprayed. If I was doing it today, I'd probably match the rows to plastic (I think the plastic layer they have here to rent is 8'

If you rebuild the motor, you could use hardened seats and valves, and unleaded fuel. But if your old tractor runs good, a simple lead substitute added to the gas is a perfectly reasonable solution.
