Gerald J. brings up a very valid and interesting point that you are probably at the upper end of a 540 RPM PTO systems capability. Does anyone know what the HP limitations on the 540 RPM PTO system is or was? What is the largest HP tractor you ever remember using a 540 RPM PTO on? As Gerald states the largest PTO pumps that I have ever personally seen for 540 RPM is around 22 GPM. The 40 GPM range pumps that I have seen are for the 1000 RPM PTO’s. A 40 GPM pump @ 3000PSIG would require approximately 85 HP to run. A 30 GPM pump @ 3000 PSIG would put you in that 60 HP range. However 3000PSI is a little higher working pressure than these PTO pumps are usually rated for. Take a look at what the surplus center has to offer on page 18 of their catalog Northern tool would also be a good online source to look at.

A good friend and I were recently discussing our tractor electrical systems when he stated "I figure it all comes back to applying Ohms Law". At this point
