RAM usage is part of slowness issue - but another big one is IE is made to accept "plug-ins" - attachments that do all sorts of other things. Since IE has 90% or more of the market, most plug-ins are targeted towards it. These can drastically slow a machine down. Some of these plug-ins slow a PC down by putting an additional load on the Internet connection - in addition to the CPU and RAM. Also, many types of malware and viruses try to attach themselves or embed themselves in other ways in IE. Many times, even if you successfully remove the malware afterwards, it can damage the original IE program files by changing them. Installing a new browser like Firefox can certainly speed up certain PC's browsing - even though the link to the Internet has not changed. Howard
