I know I'm a little late but better late than never.
What I did was I took a 1/4" drill bit and ground a slight angle on one side and stuck it in the hole on the drive and used it as a lever and pried the washer down and put a feeler gauge in the gap and I was able to push the pin in with my finger enough to get it started and than put the drive on the starter and tap through the hole.
It sure saves the old arm pit.
