jal's right. Take the bolts loose, pull the starter back a little, then bolt it back in and try it. If this don't work, take it loose again, and pull it back, make sure it is grounded good on the bell housing, and hit the starter button to see if it works. If not, then you'll have to remove it. First though, take the two battery cables loose and clean them and the posts good. Tractor electricity can be our friend. On the other hand it can drive you right straight up through the wall.
