before you change over have you done the following: 1.removed all clamp on battery repair ends 2.replaced all cables with 1/0 or bigger cables 3.used the bigger ground stap for 6volt not the little one for 12 volt 4.cleand and recleaned all connections including ground at frame the above will cure problems with the average older tractor. after 40-60 year the cables corrode inside, at the ends etc. Rust devlops under the ground connection and seems like somebody has replaced heavy cables for 6volt with lightweight 12 volt cables. 6 volts works fine IF repaired back to original (new) working condition IF you still want to change then the starter stays the same, the dynamo(generator) needs rewound or replaced with an alternator and the voltage regulator needs replaced along with all light bulbs and a ballast resistor (60-70's Chrylser auto) needs installed before the coil Good luck ron
