No, naptha cannot be used as a replacement for laquer thinner! I used naptha, or an eqivalent to reduce Rust-o-leum, dry time expanded, but did work. Laquer thinner can be used in enamel paints (Auto type), but not if you want high gloss! Bite the bullet-spend the money-buy the correct thinner/ reducer for the paint you are using! you'll save money from having to do it over, or getting a paint job that has little gloss, or doesn't look right! Thats why they sell the reducers for different types of paint. Of course, if all you are going to do is splash some paint on an old, rusty plow, etc. you can do it.
