Us irrigated folks have done this a lot; up to 200 acres at a pop (up or down) in about 3 hours with a good wire winder.

I always used barbed or at least a heavy gauge wire and a darned good fence stretcher. Wood posts on the corners only and the small 3/8" steel posts every twenty five steps or so in between.

A good car battery would probably last darned near a year. Used to use those little dry cells and they would go all summer. :>)

You can configure it any way ya want as long as you don't short to ground.
