530 case fuel pump gear

On the 1965 case 188 diesel you have the gear and shaft for the fuel pump timing.They in turn have those cursed little cup seals on the shaft,One seal faces backwards the other is opposite.How do you keep that bloody little seal from folding back on its selve.ahhhhh!!!There must be some niffy trick unknown to me.
