I have not been arround JD mowers so I don"t know if this relates to your problem or not. I have a "91 Kubota diesel. When the fuel filters are becoming plugged it will fall on its" face for 30 secs or so, then run fine for about 20 minutes. Then it repeats. I imagine you have already replaced the filters, but if not I would do so. Sure beats looking for a leak if the filter/filters are the problem.
