You refer I presume to the proposed amendment to the Horse Protestion Act. This has got to be one of the most underhanded, ill concieved, and long term just plain wrong pieces of legislation to come up in Congress in several years. A the base of this mess are the USPCA and PETA type folks who don't have any problems about telling folks how to live their lives and run their business. Included in this boondoggle is a budget increase of $ 5 million for the USDA Horse Protection Unit. This is a complex deal that includes a bunch of stuff besides the prohibition of slaughtering horses for human consumption. In the first place, even though I don't eat horse meat, I believe that the US gov'ment has NO business telling me or you what of our livestock we can and cannot kill and eat, or even sell for forieners to eat. Sorry, I really didn't mean to sugar coat my opinion. I could go on all night about this but tell any body who will listen that this ain't no farm bill. These people are trying to make my horses into pets. I've got a black stud horse standing 16.3 hands that would just love to get in their laps. As I age my tolerance for stupidity shrinks.
