That's what I suspected. Sounds like the plastic governor damper ring deep inside the pump has become brittle, and distintegrated, and pieces of it are jammed in the housing pressure regulator valve/return fitting that screws into the punp cover. (This, or any other obstruction in the fuel return circuit will cause the engine to shutdown, as his is doing.) Removing the fitting/valve and cleaning it out SHOULD allow it to start and run, but get the pump OH'd because as the plastic ring completely fails, the metal parts it isolates will bang together, causing wear and metal filings in the pump.
