Depends on your truck, but on mine the plate is about 36" wide and I think 24" deep. There is a good long section of plate below the frame. That is the reason for the gusset plates. They're welded vertically in front of the hitch plate, and up to the frame rail. Might not hurt you to stop by a local truck shop too. They can probably show you in a minute or two just what needs to be done, and there's probably a truck around the yard already set up. Whatever you do though, make it a good strong professional job. It's just not worth doing it worng and having hitch, plate and all torn out of the frame. We all know what can happen then. HTH.
