I have not bought the trailer yet, I was going to mount the hitch to the truck while I am still searching for a trailer.
I have 1/4 plate for the rear of the truck that binds the flatbed with the chasis/frame.
I see from Rod's reply that the hitch really needs to be between the frame rails.
I have a Mack Day Cab and the frame might be a little high for this.
