Allan, sounds like you are doing the right thing. You should be able to send the new pump back for a refund.You might see if the O ring groove on the old pump is same as the new pump. Those little O rings are asked to do a lot, If the old pump O ring groove is a little too deep it may not seal correctly. Have a good day, Stan
