That engine is one of the best although I haven't been near one in 40 years. We had several on hay balers. Hard starting when hot was, in most cases, caused by fuel vaporization (vapor lock). They started good when cold. We used to just leave them run all day. Even when refueling. Just stand upwind. Chaff gets in between the baffle plates and the heads and can catch on fire quite easily. Always a big surprise when you're baling into the wind and turn around and see your engine on fire. We used ValvEase for the sticky valve problem. I would think fuel vaporization would be a bigger problem now as today's gasoline is more volatile.
