This is the question that I have been waiting for. Please see Ashfall Fossil Beds. This is a Nebraska State Historical Park, about two hours west of Sioux City, Iowa and not so far from I-90. There is nothing in the world which I know of that compares with this find. In 1971 heavy rains eroded a corn field and later a baby rhino skull was identified. 12 million years before there was a volcano in Idaho that put up ash 100 to 200 times what came out of Mt Saint Helens. The ash buried and preserved now extinct animals. Many people have no interest in this site but others are passionate about it. Stepping back in time millions of years can alter your focus. www.ashfall.unl.edu As a bonus there is scenic cow-calf country to see between Fort Randall Dam and I-90.
