Drag up the reason of the day from the Wheel 'o Excuses... ULSD may be part of it. Although a normal year without the switch to ULSD they'd be claiming it was that they're starting to ramp up production of No. 2 Home Heating Oil. Some would grose it's because they don't build more refining capacity due to environmental regulations; people like me would point out they've merged a lot and shut down enough capacity we can refine less fuel today than 30 years ago -- hey, helps the profits three ways! Less competetion, normal stuff like maintenance/seasonal changes/government formula changes create shortages so we get to charge even more, and you didn't invest in more capacity either. And the bottom line: Because people will pay it.
