Lots of mechanics don't like to get involved with anything unusual, especially if it's out of production; they're unfamiliar with them, worried they'll break or ruin something they can't replace. In the early 60s tried to get shops in Redding, Cal to work on a Carter UU-2 carb (if I remember the number correctly)off a 32 Hupp. They'd take one look, want to know what it was from, and it was like hitting 'em with 220. Had to buy carb solve and do it myself.
