Friends father does the same scam. Tells stories on how poor he is, (he has lots of cash), drives an old clunker to the tag sale or sale, how his wife died of cancer etc. It seems to work with rich people, who dont care what they get for what they sell. Me, I would throw him off the property after I told him the price was firm.
