You need documentary evidence of you position.
Put it in writing, send it recorded delivery - so they can not say they never received it, and keep a copy.
Be very careful how you word your letter so that it is absolutely clear, but not threatening any action which could be deemed illegal.
That way you have a documented baseline to continue any further action as required.
