I saw a "Mutt" tractor made from a 771 engine
and front end ( the SOS transmission had
gone bad ) and a 661 rear half ( early diesel
that had blown holes in the block ) They had a
belly mower on it and loved it for mowing an
old cemetery. They had 10 inch front wheels
in place of the 16s but the front still stuck up
high.
So, yes, it can be done but you have to decide
if it is worthwhile.
