I have a 961 Row Crop tractor. It would be nice if the tractor were the height of an all-purpose tractor.

Is this a relatively easy change?

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the responses. I was hoping this would be a relatively painless change, but this sounds like a bigger job then it's worth.

Maybe I need two tractors!!?!?!?

I saw a "Mutt" tractor made from a 771 engine and front end ( the SOS transmission had gone bad ) and a 661 rear half ( early diesel that had blown holes in the block ) They had a belly mower on it and loved it for mowing an old cemetery. They had 10 inch front wheels in place of the 16s but the front still stuck up high.
So, yes, it can be done but you have to decide if it is worthwhile.

There are way too many things that are different between the two tractors. The engine, transmission, clutch and hydraulics are the same, but the rear end, front end and even the way the front end attaches to the tractor are different. Note that the axles turn in opposite direction to a standard tractor due to the transfer cases.

Paul isn't being facetious; your best bet is to make a trade.

Yup.

Trade it for an 861.
