I just built a double barn (20x60x15 for hay and 20x30x12 shed for cattle).
8x8"s 4 feet into ground with a footer
2x6"s on 16" center for girts
pre-manufactured trusses on 48" center
2x4"s purlins on 24" center
metal siding and roof
#3 stone floor over a 6 mil moisture barrier over crusher run (for hay only)

The building inspector passed it, so it must be to code. I figure, this thing will outlast me, so do it once and do it right.
