Here in MN tanks 30 & larger (BBQ tank is a 20) do not need to meet the same types of requirements. But, they do have to pass a visual inspection - that they look good, valves are working. More relaxed, common sense. On the 20 size, never heard of the pure white deal, but the 12 year thing is here, as well as the opt (??? got the right 3 letters) valve.
