Around here,nobody cuts small grain crops standing,except for fields that are grain only,and have been sprayed. The alfalfa (and weeds) would slug the combine because of the close cylinder adjustment. After swathing,2 days are needed to dry down. We sell the oats so it needs to be dry and keep the straw for bedding for our dairy herd. Thanks for the questions....fun to hear how other folks do it! ~brad
