Two things will make a Wisconsin hard to start hot. -Prime the carb with the manual lever on the fuel pump. You may have to turn the crankshaft 180 to get the pump off lobe. -Weak magneto, when it is hot you should still have a fat blue spark. Old coils get weak to the point the engine will stop when it heats up. When you store the engine drain the fuel and run the carb dry. Let the engine cool and remove the plugs, spray wd40 to the exhaust valves, the exhaust valves have a habit of sticking open. Engine oil selection is VIP. I recommend a single grade viscosity, 10w-40 may be 40% viscosity modifier, and won't hold viscosity at the higher temperature air cooled engines run. There is no reason why the wisconsin engine is hard to start if it has fresh gas, good magneto. I had a hand crank V-4 on a Ford combine, never hesitated to shut it off once the mag was overhauled.
